No specific reason for the delay was given so it appears developer Dambuster Studios simply needed more time, though it said it understands the irony in delaying Dead Island 2 again. If the planets align correctly, maybe Dead Island 2 will be on its way too.Announced on the Dead Island Twitter (below), the delay from February 3 at least only marks a 12 week delay compared to the several years it's been since Dead Island 2's initial release window of spring 2015. The original game and its sequel Riptide was developed by Techland, but they moved very quickly onto the incredibly successful Dying Light, with Dying Light 2 on its way to PS4, Xbox One and PC. THQ Nordic, the now parent company of Deep Silver, gave development of Dead Island 2 to Sumo Digital, but very little has been confirmed since, aside from the odd assurance that the game hasn’t been cancelled. Development of the sequel was being handled by Yager Interactive, but Yager and publisher Deep Silver parted ways back in 2016, with Yager going under not long afterwards.
